1 ⲁϥⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱ ⲛϫⲉⲃⲁⲗⲇⲁⲇ ⲡⲓⲥⲁⲩⲭⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ :

Then Baldad the Sauchite answered and said,

2 ⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲓⲡⲣⲟⲟⲓⲙⲓⲟⲛ ⲉⲃⲏⲗ ⲉⲟⲩϩⲟϯ ⲉⲃⲟⲗϩⲓⲧⲟⲧϥ : ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁϥⲑⲁⲙⲓⲟ ⲛⲉⲛⲭⲁⲓ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛⲡⲉⲧϭⲟⲥⲓ .

What beginning or fear is hiseven he that makes all things in the highest?

3 ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲑⲣⲉ ϩⲗⲓ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲉⲩⲓ ϫⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲣⲉϥⲉⲣⲭⲣⲟϥ : ⲛⲓⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ϫⲟⲣϫⲥ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗϩⲓⲧⲟⲧϥ .

For let none think that there is a respite for robbers: and upon whom will there not come a snare from him?

4 ⲡⲱⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲛⲁⲉⲣⲧⲙⲏⲓ ⲙⲡⲉⲙⲑⲟ ⲙⲡϭⲟⲉⲓⲥ : ⲓⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟϥ ⲉⲁⲩⲙⲁⲥϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ .

For how shall a mortal be just before the Lord? or who that is born of a woman shall purify himself?

5 ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲓⲟϩ ϣⲁϥⲟⲩⲁϩⲥⲁϩⲛⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲙⲡⲁϥⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ : ⲛⲓⲥⲓⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲥⲉⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲙⲑⲟ .

If he gives an order to the moon, then it shines not; and the stars are not pure before him.

6 ⲓⲉ ⲁⲩⲏⲣ ⲡⲉ ⲫⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ ⲁⲛ : ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲙⲫⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲉⲧⲟⲓ ⲙϥⲉⲛⲧ .

But alas! man is corruption, and the son of man a worm.
