1 ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛϭⲓⲁⲡⲁ ⲇⲟⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲡⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲁⲡⲁ ⲃⲏⲥⲁⲣⲓⲟⲛ ·
He said, that is Abba Doulos, the disciple of Abba Besarion:
2 ϫⲉⲉⲛⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϩⲁϩⲧⲛⲧϩⲁⲗⲁⲥⲥⲁ
“while we were walking beside the sea,
3 ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲓⲉⲓⲃⲉ ·
and I became thirsty.
4 ⲁⲓϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲡⲁ ⲃⲏⲥⲁⲣⲓⲟⲛ
I said to Abba Besarion:
5 ϫⲉⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ ϯⲟⲃⲉ ⲧⲟⲛⲟⲩ .
“My father, I am very thirsty.”
6 ⲡϩⲗⲗⲟ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥϣⲗⲏⲗ
But the old man prayed
7 ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲓ
he said to me:
8 ϫⲉⲥⲱ ⲛⲁⲕ ϩⲛⲧϩⲁⲗⲁⲥⲥⲁ · ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲙⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲟⲗϭ .
“Drink at the sea and the water is sweet.”
9 ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲓⲥⲱ ·
And I drank.
10 ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲓϯ ⲛⲟⲩϣⲏⲙ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲁⲁⲅⲅⲏⲛ ⲉⲧⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧ · ⲉⲓϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ
And I put a little water into my vessel which was in my hand, saying:
11 ϫⲉⲙⲏⲡⲟⲧⲉ ⲧⲁⲉⲓⲃⲉ ⲟⲛ .
“Lest I get thirsty again.”
12 ⲡϩⲗⲗⲟ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲓ
But the old man after seeing (this) said to me:
13 ϫⲉⲉⲧⲃⲉⲟⲩ ⲁⲕⲙⲉϩ ⲙⲟⲟⲩ .
“Why did you fill water?”
14 ⲡⲉϫⲁⲓ
I said:
15 ϫⲉⲕⲱ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ · ϫⲉⲙⲏⲡⲟⲧⲉ ⲧⲁⲉⲓⲃⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲥⲁ .
“Forgive me, lest I become thirsty there.”
16 ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲡϩⲗⲗⲟ ⲛⲁⲓ
The old man said to me:
17 ϫⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲙⲁ · ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲟⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲥⲁ .
“God here (of this place) is also God there.”
