1 ⲟⲩϩⲗⲗⲟ ⲛⲁⲛⲁⲭⲱⲣⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁϥ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲟⲩⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲏϩ ϩⲛⲟⲩϯⲙⲉ .
An old anchorite had a servant living in a village.
2 ⲁⲥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲟⲡ ⲉⲧⲣⲉϥⲱⲥⲕ ⲉⲉⲓ ϣⲁⲡϩⲗⲗⲟ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲡⲉϥⲥⲱⲛⲧ .
And it happened one time that he delayed going to the elder according to his custom.
3 ⲡϩⲗⲗⲟ ⲇⲉ ϣⲱⲱⲧ ⲛⲛⲉⲭⲣⲉⲓⲁ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ , ⲙⲛⲡϩⲱⲃ ⲛϭⲓϫ ⲉⲧⲉⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁϥⲥⲟⲩ ϩⲛⲧⲉϥⲣⲓ .
And the elder lacked all the necessities and the handiwork which he had in his cell.
4 ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲑⲗⲓⲃⲉ ϫⲉⲙⲛⲧϥϩⲱⲃ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲉⲓⲣⲉ , ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙⲛⲧⲁϥϩⲣⲉ .
And it bothered him that he did not have anything to do, and he did not have food.
5 ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉⲕⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲃⲱⲕ ⲛⲅⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲡⲉⲧⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲉⲓ ⲛⲁⲛ .
And he said to his disciple, “Do you want to go and summon the one who serves us?”
6 ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ
And he said,
7 ϫⲉⲡⲉⲧⲕⲕⲉⲗⲉⲩⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϯⲛⲁⲁⲁϥ .
“I will do what you command.”
8 ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲡϩⲗⲗⲟ ⲧⲟⲗⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲛⲛⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ .
And yet the elder did not dare to send the disciple.
9 ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩϭⲱ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲩⲑⲗⲓⲃⲉ
When they had continued to be constrained,
10 ⲙⲡⲉⲡⲉⲧⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲉⲓ ⲉⲓ ⲛⲁⲩ .
the servant did not come to them.
11 ⲡⲉϫⲉⲡϩⲗⲗⲟ ⲙⲡⲥⲟⲛ
The elder said to the brother,
12 ϫⲉⲕⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲃⲱⲕ ϣⲁⲡϯⲙⲉ .
“Do you want to go to the village?”
13 ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛϭⲓⲡⲥⲟⲛ
The brother said,
14 ϫⲉⲡⲉⲧⲉⲕⲕⲉⲗⲉⲩⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϯⲛⲁⲁⲁϥ .
“I will do what you command.”
15 ⲛⲉϥⲣϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲛϭⲓⲡⲥⲟⲛ ⲉⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲡϯⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲡⲉⲥⲕⲁⲛⲇⲁⲗⲟⲛ
The brother was afraid to go to the village because of scandal
16 ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲛ ϫⲉⲛⲛⲉϥⲣⲁⲧⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲛⲥⲁⲡⲉϥⲉⲓⲱⲧ
And yet in order not to disobey his father,
17 ⲁϥⲕⲁⲧⲉⲭⲉ ⲉⲃⲱⲕ .
he determined to go.
18 ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁϥ
He said to him,
19 ϫⲉⲃⲱⲕ ⲁⲩⲱ ϯⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲡⲧⲏⲣϥ
“Go, and I believe in God completely,”
20 ϫⲉ …. …………
that …
21 ϩⲙⲡⲉⲓⲣⲁⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲓⲙ
in every temptation.
22 ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲁϥⲧⲛⲛⲟⲟⲩϥ .
And he prayed and sent him.
23 ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡϯⲙⲉ ,
When he went into the village,
24 ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ .
he went to the place where the servant lived.
25 ⲁϥϭⲛⲧϥ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲙⲛⲛⲉϥⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ
He found him and all his household
26 ⲉⲩⲙⲡⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡϯⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲟⲩⲣⲡⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ
away from the village because of a memorial
27 ϣⲁⲧⲛⲟⲩϣⲉⲉⲣⲉ ϣⲏⲙ ⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲁϥ .
except for only a young girl belonging to him.
28 ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲧⲱϩⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲡⲣⲟ
When he knocked on the door,
29 ⲁⲥⲣⲟⲩⲱ ⲁⲥⲟⲩⲱⲛ ⲛⲁϥ .
she replied and opened it.
30 ⲁϥϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲥⲁⲡⲉⲥⲉⲓⲱⲧ .
He asked for her father.
31 ⲛⲧⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲥⲥⲡⲥⲱⲡϥ
But she entreated him
32 ⲁⲥⲥⲱⲕ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ .
and she drew him in.
33 ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲁⲛⲉⲭⲉ .
but he did not endure it.
34 ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲥϫⲓⲧϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛϫⲛⲁϩ
But when she had compelled him by force,
35 ⲁⲥϭⲙϭⲟⲙ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ·
she touched him
36 ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲥⲥⲟⲕϥ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ .
and drew him in.
37 ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲉⲓⲙⲉ
As for him, when he realized
38 ϫⲉⲉⲥⲥⲱⲕ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲩⲥⲱⲱϥ ,
that it was for defilement that she was drawing him in,
39 ⲁϥⲁϣⲁϩⲟⲙ , ⲁϥϫⲓϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
he groaned and cried out
40 ϫⲉⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲛⲧⲉⲓⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲙⲁⲧⲟⲩϫⲟⲓ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲛⲉϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲙⲡⲁⲉⲓⲱⲧ .
“Lord, save me in this hour because of the prayers of my father.”
41 ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϫⲉⲡⲁⲓ
And when he had said this,
42 ⲛⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲁϥϭⲛⲧϥ ϩⲓϫⲙⲡⲓⲉⲣⲟ ⲉϥⲃⲏⲕ ⲉⲧϩⲉⲛⲉⲉⲧⲉ .
instantly he found himself beside the river going to the monastery.
43 ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϫⲓⲧϥ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲟϫ ϣⲁⲡⲉϥⲉⲓⲱⲧ .
And he was taken safely to his father.
